About Dr. Shainbart

Experienced & Well-Educated Therapist in NYC

Psychotherapy training and skills

I am in private practice in midtown Manhattan and specialize in treating adults, adolescents and couples.

Stephen-AboutMePage2My commitment to my work motivated me to seek out many years of education in the field of psychology.

After earning my Bachelor of Science degree at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Fordham University in New York City, then worked as a psychologist at various hospitals and clinics.

I later completed a four-year training program in Psychoanalysis at the William Alanson White Institute of Psychiatry, Psychoanalysis, and Psychology.

Mentoring Psychologists & Psychotherapists Throughout NYC

Currently I teach and supervise other psychotherapists because I want to contribute to my discipline and its continued development. I supervise psychotherapists at both the William Alanson White Institute and at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy.  Additionally, I teach students seeking advanced training in psychotherapy and psychoanalysis at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy.

NYC Therapist: The Bottom Line

Throughout my career, I have cultivated skills which not only enable me to understand how a person developed their difficulties, but also to explore both your past and your present in order to help you make the necessary changes that can lead to a happier and more well-adjusted life.

I welcome your inquiries. Usually, contacting me on the phone and then setting up an initial appointment for an in-person consultation is best. We can meet and discuss your concerns, and you can determine whether you think working with me to be helpful. I look forward to hearing from you.
